  • IFNA Council Of National Representatives Meet in Tunis, Tunisia

    The International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists Council of National Representatives, Congress Planning Committee, and Education Committee met in Tunis, Tunisia on June 4-7, 2008. The 9th World Congress for Nurse Anesthetists will be held in The Hague Netherlands on June 4-8, 2010. The program will be finalized in October and continuing education credits will be applied for at that time. We hope many nurse anesthetists will plan now to attend this event.
    The Council of National Representatives met for two days in Tunisia. Sites for the congress in 2012 and 2014 were selected. The 2012 congress will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia and the site for the Congress in 2014 will be Hammamet,Tunisia.
    Hammamet is a vacation town by the sea with vacation entertainment and facilities. IFNA is accepting bids now for the location of the congress in 2016 and 2018.
    Elections were held for the 2008-2010 term for IFNA.
    Sandra Ouellette CRNA, M.Ed, FAAN was reelected for her third term as IFNA President.
    While in Tunis, Ms Ouellette, Pascal Rod, Executive Director of IFNA, and Moncef Jendoubi met with Mr Mondher Zenaidi, Minister of Health in Tunisia. Mr Zenaidi is interested in the IFNA educational model and would like to work with it to Tunisia.
    We were pleased to welcome a new country member during the CNR meeting in Tunis. Serbia was welcomed to the federation and we look forward to working with leaders from that country. There are 34 countries in the IFNA.

    The IFNA is developping an international Accreditation Process for nurse anesthesia programs .

    IMPORTANT! Invitations to comment on the IFNA’s proposed approval process for anesthesia education programs are being accepted until November 1, 2008.



    Some volunteer programs have been already involved in a Pilot Accreditation Program and hold the status of "IFNA Recognition" Programs Recognized
